Earth at Aphelion

Earth moves around Sun in an elliptical orbit, which means the distance between Earth and Sun is not constant throughout the year and every year the distance become maximum and minimum in two points of the orbit. On 3rd July, 2017 (UTC 09:11 pm), the Earth will be at the furthest point to the Sun in its yearly orbit. This is known as Aphelion. Aphelion take place about two weeks after June Solstice. The distance between Earth and Sun at the time of Apehelion in 2017 will be 152,092,504 km.

The opposite happens in January when Earth is at perihelion.
